Dinner at the Square
The difficulties pale beside the richness of the talk.
The Reverend Wiliam McD. Tully
Rector, St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in New York City
“Dinner at the Square” is a quarterly dinner discussion on a hot topic of interest. Rather than being polite by avoiding controversy, we’ll choose to discuss the divisive topics of the day. Defying the trend toward discussing issues most central to our lives in 30 second sound bites, we’ll discuss aspects of our annual topic for an entire season. Plus we’ll work between dinners to draw lessons from our conversations.
Find this year’s dinner program here.

- At least two knowledgeable speakers, either from each “side” of the issue or representing different aspects of the issue, each possessing good humor and good sense
- Facilitators to make the discussion productive
- A history lesson of sorts, by virtue of the presence of a Founding Father or two (lose the quill pens)
- Good company, good food, good laughs

Tallahassee Roundtable
Beginning in September, we will have a monthly roundtable on a specific topic of local interest, with a new topic offered each new school year. We will invite experts on the topic, from different ideological perspectives, to join the Board and Founders in identifying the facts and looking for a common sense approach to the local issue. The results of the dialog will be offered to the public in an effort to clarify the facts, advance the discussion and improve the quality of life here in Tallahassee. We’ll keep you in the loop as our discussion proceeds.
Our first roundtable topic is Economic Segregation. Find the beginnings of a library on this topic here. Do you have resources to add to our library or experts to refer us to? Contact us at roundtable@tothevillagesquare.org.
