First prayer. Then Valium.
A dear, dear friend of mine has had to deal with some complicated health issues lately, which includes having had seizures. She’s got to juggle this with a high-powered career and a very active life, which has included ballet for as long as I can remember.
My friend has approached her health issues with ample perspective and humor. Upon learning that she needed to carry around a Valium to take in the event she feels a seizure coming on, my friend didn’t just pop a pill in her purse. She put it inside a prayer box on a bracelet.
Which has inspired my new motto: First prayer. Then Valium.
Honestly, can you think of a single instance when either one or the other won’t cover the situation?
Pray that the presentation is a success. Take Valium when it heads south.
Pray that you find the strength to have patience with your teen. Try the Valium when you don’t.
Pray that your plane stays in the air. Pop a Valium if it doesn’t.
Pray that your portfolio goes up. Pop a Valium when we bail out AIG.
I defy you to find a single life situation that isn’t solved by either prayer or Valium?
